Bluford resident Floyd Swartzlander 56 died at Good Samaritan Hospital after a week as a car inspector for the Illinois Central Railroad. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. at East Hickory Hill Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Harold Mayberry. burial in Thomason Cemetery. Friends may call Myers Chapel after 3 p.m. Thursday. Born January 12, 1904 in Minner Arkansas, he married Opal Scarbrough in 1923. Survived by wife Opal, mother Etter Swartzlander of Centralia, daughters Esther Levin Bluford Eva Melton Mt. Vernon, four grandchildren, brother Frankie, sisters Ruby Zimmerman Christine Lawson. preceded by father and brother Raymond.
