In Mt Vernon last night burglars prowled south and southwest Mt Vernon stealing cash a battery charger an adding machine cigarettes and whiskey. They broke a basement window to enter the Corner Tavern at 19th and Perkins took 72 dollars in silver plus whiskey and cigarettes. A break in at Egyptian Tire and Battery Co 817 South Tenth Street via skylight damaged a steel safe but only the battery charger was taken. Pleasant Minor owner of City Produce at 1004 Lamar reported an adding machine stolen. Earlier Bill Sanders reported about 2 dollars worth of gasoline stolen from his truck at Tenth and Gilbert.
