Hear Mt Vernon Tax Complaints Soon At Board Session
Jefferson County Board of Review will accept tax assessment complaints from 15 townships outside Mt Vernon tomorrow the last day for filings. Chairman Hermann Taylor announced only 42 complaints have been received to date. Next week the board will begin hearings on Mt Vernon township assessments on a yet to be decided day.

Big Spider at Bluford Mistaken for Tarantula
A large spider captured at Bluford was identified by Mt. Vernon township high school biology instructor Mrs. Ann Schmidt as not a tarantula but just a big spider. Mrs. Schmidt confirmed the misidentification after examining the specimen. Mrs. Ray Millmaker of 410 S. 21st street reported the news today.
