Four persons were found dead in an office building in Park Ridge, Illinois, this morning with violent but unknown causes. The bodies were discovered around 7:30 a.m. Details were not immediately available. Park Ridge lies northwest of Chicago.
Stockholders of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Co. will vote August 2 on issuing $9.3 million in nonvoting preference shares to FRA for track rehabilitation between Milwaukee and St. Paul Minneapolis. The plan, under the Railroad Revitalization Act, funds a $66.4 million four year program to repair lines.
Ilana Diamond Rovner 38 resigns as chief of the U S attorney office public protection unit in Chicago to become assistant deputy to Gov James R Thompson and Chicago spokesman. She will start Aug 9 and has a history as the first woman supervisor in the office.
Springfield AP says Illinois ran a 74 million dollar deficit in fiscal 1977, far less than 189 million in 1976 under former Gov. Walker. The state began 1978 with 52 million in general revenue, planning to lift to 85 million in 1978. Expenditures rose 6.2 percent to 6.004 billion while revenues climbed 8.6 percent to 5.93 billion.

TOKYO AP China announced Teng Hsiaoping restored to vice premier party vice chairman and army chief posts. Hsinhua said the Central Committee acted at a July meeting in Peking. Four expelled from the party include Mao’s widow Chiang Ching and allies Wang Hungwen Chang Chun-chiao Yao Wen-yuan.

United Mine Workers dissidents plan to ask the Labor Department to review the disputed election of Arnold Miller as union president. The executive board voted 84-55 to accept the official vote, despite irregularity claims by Miller’s challengers. Patterson’s attorney said the case will go to the Labor Department within 30 days. An Aug. 15 federal hearing will address a suit by Miller against the Bituminous Coal Operators Association over pension fund reallocations amid recent cutbacks.
