Gen Dean Missing in Action After Taejon Battle

Gen Dean, commander, is missing amid a heavy Red attack on Taejon. Reports say 47 Red planes destroyed on the ground and three in the air, with four large fires in Taejon after noon. Phosphorus shells reportedly set fires, and Red artillery was seen southwest of Taejon, signaling a possible deep western flank.

Mt. Carmel Moves Water Plant To Higher Ground

Mt Carmel, NL, July 20, is relocating its municipal water pumping station as flood waters surround the current site. The city council approved a $77,416 contract with Winslow Light Construction Co. of Salem Indiana to build a new plant away from flood risk.

Hold 2 Youths For Burglary

Two teenagers aged 14 and 15 were arrested by city police for breaking into Harry's Market at 1010 Newby last night and stealing four hams a roll of cheese and a butcher knife. They signed confessions this morning and are being held with charges not yet filed. Police recovered the meat.

Salem Faces Blackout After Plant Fire

Salem Illinois, a city of 6,000, endured a blackout after an arcing fault in the main wiring of the municipal power plant. A large resistor exploded at 1:15 p.m. CST, damaging wiring near the switchboard. fire was out in about 15 minutes. Utilities chief Bill Reese said losses would run into thousands, with power and gas outages likely until late tonight or Friday.
