Engineers On Honshu Island Update from 597th Unit

On Honshu Island July 3, 1945 Sergeant Everett Tedford of McLeansboro Illinois serves with the 597th Engineer Light Equipment Company at the northern tip of Honshu. Tedford joined the Army March 7 1944 trained at Camp Blanding Florida sailed overseas February 4 1947 to Japan entered current unit assignment on arrival.

Wreck injures Davis couple near Dahlgren

Ward McHee and his wife Pauline of Davis Illinois sustained minor injuries when their car collided with a vehicle driven by Julius Karcher of Dahlgren at a road blockade east of Dahlgren around 8 30 Saturday night. They were transported to Vickers Memorial Hospital for treatment and released today.

Four killed near Salem in fatal mishaps report

Dykes Funeral Held 2 P.M. Today

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today for Mrs. Marinda Dykes who died Saturday morning at her home on Jefferson Street. She was first married to George Riley in 1885, who died in 1896, later to W. G. Dykes who died in 1943. Three children also preceded her in death.
