Wreckage Sighted From Big Plane Crash in Arizona Mountains
Unidentified military plane wreckage and three survivors were sighted by air in the Bassett Peak area of the Galuro mountains, Arizona. A rancher reported an explosion near Willcox around 12:20 a.m. local time. Davis-Monthan AFB and Civil Air Patrol crews searched, with no immediate ID for the aircraft and no overdue plane reported by Commercial Airlines or the base.

Wreck injures forty on Soo Line vacation train
Paynesville Minnesota July 13 A Soo Line special carrying 225 eastern vacationers to Banff Canada collided with a freight train. About 40 people were injured none seriously. The 15-Pullman train left Minneapolis at 1 30 am traveling 45 mph when the freight locomotive failed to clear the main line. Both locomotives derailed and passengers were treated locally before possible transfer to Minneapolis.

Woman Drowns At Whittington Illinois Farm Pond

NEW YORK July 13 The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis reports 218 fewer polio cases this year since March 18 compared with the same period in 1949. Polio cases totalled 2,053 since the disease year began in March, down from 2,271 a year ago.

Carnival Man Dies Suddenly At Fairgrounds
Louis Alvin Dayberry, 45, a carnival concession operator, died at Mt. Vernon Fair grounds at 10 30 last night likely from a heart attack. He was stricken in his trailer near the carnival rides. Firemen attempted revival with an inhalator. Born September 10, 1805 in Knoxville, Tenn., he lived in Elizabethton, Tenn. He is survived by his wife Ollie Mae. The body was moved from Pulley Funeral Home and will be transported to Elizabethton for burial.

No Appreciation For Fireworks
Milford, Conn., July 13. The American Legion said it will not mount further Fourth of July displays here unless spectators show more appreciation. After passing the hat among about 5,000 people at its display last week and again this year, the Legion collected eighty-nine dollars in cash, 93 bus tokens, no good since bus fare rose ten cents, assorted nuts and bolts, and four and a half pounds of pebbles.
