Governor Signs T. B. Money Bill In Illinois Aid Plan
Governor Stevenson signed bills creating Illinois first state aid program for local tuberculosis agencies. Six million dollars will be distributed to city and county governments, with five million on need basis and three dollars per patient per day. One million funds will repair and improve county and municipal TB sanitariums. Twenty six tax supported TB sanitariums exist in Illinois, twenty one downstate. Most will qualify, with about half funds going to Cook County institutions.

He was born in Jefferson county, a stone cutter by trade, son of Thomas and Clara Carpenter Roney.
