Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Bass Overton, 72, of 829 Lamar, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Corinthian Baptist Church with Rev. William Fuqua officiating. Burial follows at Oakwood Cemetery. The body will be moved from Parker Funeral Home to the church, with friends calling today from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Overton died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

CHICAGO AP Jeffrey Heary ten months old toppled from a pickup truck with nine others Monday. Found by Pvt James Hopper beside the Calumet Expressway at 130th Street. He was bruised but not seriously hurt. Parents woke to find the baby missing at 40th Street. Police notified after he had been found.
The threat of a seiche in Lake Michigan closed Chicago beaches and piers for hours as water levels fluctuated up to 6 feet down and 3 feet up. The Weather Bureau described seiches as sudden shoreline water surges linked to barometric changes, noting a 1954 5 foot seiche in Chicago and likening the effect to a bowl slosh.
Governor Romney signed a bill adding measles to Michigan’s required school immunizations. Beginning after January 1, a child enrolling in any state school for the first time must prove measles vaccination, joining existing requirements for smallpox diphtheria tetanus and others.

Mr and Mrs Owen Rollberg of 2809 College welcomed a daughter born at 1 50 this morning in Good Samaritan Hospital. The newborn weighed seven pounds eight ounces and adds to the family in this new arrival.

At 125 p m on the Tri City Grocery lot Erika Higgins backed into Jennie Dechamp s parked car causing over 100 dollars damage to Dechamp s car while Higgins s vehicle sustained about 5 dollars damage.
