Leslie Logue, 68, Found Dead at Irvington Farm
Leslie Leroy Logue, 68, was found dead in the bedroom of his Jefferson county farm home a mile north of Irvington. Coroner Ben Roeder ruled death from coronary thrombosis, a heart ailment. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Queen Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia. Logue, a retired Illinois Central machinist, had lived alone since his wife Eva May’s death. He was born October 27, 1879 and married Eva May Kennedy on February 14, 1914 in Centralia.

Injuries Reported After Fall and Bat Incident
Two persons received injuries yesterday afternoon in the city. Eight-year-old Carolyn Anderson of 508 South 17th Street was treated for cuts on her right leg from a bicycle fall. Lindell Arnold, 20, of 915 South East Street, sustained a head injury when struck by a bat while playing for the V.F.W. baseball team at the city park. he played last night in a game at Braves Field.

Board of Review to Hear Tax Complaints Countywide
The Jefferson County Board of Review will begin hearing tax assessment complaints tomorrow across 15 townships except Mt. Vernon. Chairman Herman Taylor announced the office hours 9:00 am to noon and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm daily and 9:00 am to noon Saturdays. The board office is in the county courthouse basement.

New Record High For Hogs and Steers At Stockyards
EAST ST. LOUIS Ill July 12 Hog and Steer prices rose to new records at No Stockyards with declining receipts the main factor. Total livestock receipts fell for five weeks as buyers grew more aggressive. Two lots of choice hogs brought 30.25 a hundredweight the highest on record here. A carload of choice steers brought 38.75 for a new record and calves topped at 32.00.
