Mrs. Nettie Wells widow of W. T. Wells died at Benton hospital yesterday at 10 a.m. Funeral services are set for Saturday afternoon at Freeman Funeral Home in Benya. Survivors include a sister Mrs. Roy Puckett of Mt. Vernon.
Fire Chief Julius Lustig and Fireman Clinton Dethrow attended the first session of a fire chief and officer’s school in Carbondale last night. The program, sponsored by the Illinois Firemen’s Association with help from the University of Illinois extension department, will cover all firefighting phases. Sessions will continue each Thursday for six weeks.

Mr and Mrs William Paul Harriman 1011 North street welcomed a daughter Peggy June born at 908 yesterday morning weighing eight pounds in Good Samaritan hospital. Basil Harris and wife 2009 Perkins welcomed a son Brophel Joseph born 211 yesterday afternoon weighing six pounds twelve ounces. Dewey Riggs and wife 2003 College welcomed a daughter Deborah Veleen born 905 last night weighing six pounds four ounces. Lester Bumpus and wife 1110 Oakland welcomed a son weighing six pounds seven ounces born 1145 last night in Good Samaritan hospital.
A $700 lawsuit was filed in circuit court here by Cecil N. Levin against Henry Ballard for a collision on October 27 1954 at 20th and Logan streets. Levin seeks $500 for car damage. Attorney F P Hanagan represents the plaintiff.
Three suits for divorce were filed in circuit court on Thursday. Jacqueline J. Regenhardt seeks divorce from Robert G. Regenhardt charging habitual drunkenness and requests custody of a minor child and alimony. They married October 20, 1950 and separated July 4, 1955. Rohrer Vs. Rohrer Meredith Rohrer filed suit for divorce against Leeda Rohrer charging desertion and asking custody of a minor child. They married June 4, 1927 and separated May 8, 1948. Griffith Vs. Griffith Arthur M. Griffith filed for divorce against Goldie Mae Griffith charging adultery. They married April 12, 1952 and lived together until June 8, 1955. Attorneys listed for each case.
Senate figures accuse the Eisenhower administration of mishandling the Dixon-Yates contract. FBI agents captured a bank bandit and his female accomplice described by police as an over sexed money hungry suspect.
