Lieutenant General Gordon B. Rogers retired died of pneumonia at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington on Sunday at age 65. He served as U S Third Army commander in Europe. Two valves opened Tuesday raise output to about 430 million gallons daily, lowering water pressure that could breach the earthen dam. A third valve remains partly open. engineers predict levels will reach a safe level within two weeks as 200 residents in nearby communities are alerted to evacuate if needed.
