Roy Eugene Cook 47 of 2004 Logan Street died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Nashville, Michigan, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Survived by wife Vinetta Burks, a son Dennis of Nashville, a daughter Mrs Norman Hassler of Alexandria Virginia, and two brothers and two sisters. He lived most of his life in Nashville and moved to Mount Vernon about four months ago.

A 15 year old and his mother received probation after a delinquent child petition hearing. Darrell Gene Beal was placed on two years probation in county court. His mother Edna Boone got one year probation for contributing to delinquency by letting him drive while underage. The incident occurred on state highway 37 north of Mt Vernon when the Beal youth's car struck 7 year old Carl Edward Cook after skidding on wet pavement.

Three people were killed and several injured, including 13 year old Sandra Walweiler who was in serious condition.
