Elk Prairie township farmer Oscar Dock Gower, 69, was found dead in his bed yesterday at home. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel with Rev. Marsh Harpole officiating. burial in Oakwood Cemetery. The body remains at Myers Chapel after 4:00 a.m. today. Born September 3, 1882, he was the son of Thomas M. and Sarah Sanders Gower and had lived in Jefferson County for 60 years. He is survived by three brothers, Charles and Omer of Mt. Vernon and another sibling.

Three youths hurt as firecracker injuries reported
James Hungate ten of Dixon Illinois suffered severe burns to his right thumb and first finger from an exploding firecracker. Danny McKinney four of Blueford sustained a severe cut on his right arm from breaking glass. Dennis Champ two of Woodlawn burned on his right leg by hot water. All were treated at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and later released.
