Mrs Roy Gilbert has received word of the death of her grandfather A W Adams who died June 24 1921 at the home of his son Henry Adams in Independence Kansas at age 83 He was the son of Dr Adams and lived in Mt Vernon about 20 years ago He leaves two sons one daughter several grandchildren and great grandchildren a sister a brother and many relatives and friends mourn his loss.

Robert Rutherford infant son of Mr and Mrs Glen Rutherford died early Monday after several days illness He was about seven weeks old Funeral services were at 10 this morning at the family home on Jordan Street with burial at Oakwood The child was described as a handsome bright little fellow

The body of Mrs Mary J Lee of Granite City was received for burial in Mt Vernon after funeral services at the First M E church conducted by Rev M C Foltz. She was 68, widow of Henry Lee, formerly of Mt Vernon, and survived by three sons Ossie John and Harry who accompanied the body to Mt Vernon. She had lived in Granite City for several years and leaves many relatives and friends in Mt Vernon.
Mrs Lizzie Stephens wife of Robert Henry Stephens died this morning at 6 30 o clock after a complication of ailments She was 67 burial will be held at West Salem tomorrow
The Corinthian Baptist church will hold an eight day meeting from Sunday July 10 to July 17 led by Rev C P Reddick B D of Osceola Arkansas. The speaker is noted as an educator and minister of wide reputation and is urged to attend.
The first regular July meeting of the city council was not held last night. Adjournment was taken until Wednesday evening.
