AP reports Monday estimates for National Stockyards show hogs at 8,500 head and cattle 4,500 with calves 150 and sheep 500. Barrows and gilts 1400 head at 27.00 to 26.75 per 100 pounds, sows 21.25 to 23.00, bulls 23.00 to 25.00, vealers 28.00 to 36.00, spring lambs 29.00 to 30.00, ewes 7.00 to 9.00.

Soybean oil 8.05n.
The St Louis Produce listing provides consumer egg grades with sizes and prices. It lists A large 37-40 cents, A medium 29-32, A small 15-20, B large 27-31. Wholesale grades show standard 24-25, medium 19-21, unclassified 20-21, pullet 12-14, graded large 27-29. Hens heavy 12, light over 5% Ibs 10, under 5% 6. Broilers and fryers 32.50-33.25.
The stock market extended its rally with the Dow at noon 885.92, up 5.23, amid widespread gains in steel, motors, utilities, and electronics. Sperry Rand led NYSE activity, up to 55.14, while Canadian Homestead Oils rose 7% to 24 on the AMEX.
Mt Vernon fire department continued handling storm related incidents from last Saturday night’s tornadic weather. Two power lines shorted, causing pole damage. crews extinguished flames and waited for Illinois Power Co workers. One outage at 6th and Maple reported 10 55 a.m. and another at 417 South 22nd Street reported 8 40 p.m.
Mrs. Rhonda Ann Murry 91 of Sesser died Wednesday at Fair Acre Nursing Home DuQuoin. Funeral 10:00 a.m. Friday Brayfield Funeral Home Sesser burial Maple Hill Cemetery. Body lies in state at Brayfield Home Lesser after 6:00 p.m. today. Born August 18 1877 to John and Julia Galloway. Married Edgar Murry died 1951. Survived by son Delpha Murry Tamaroa daughters Lenora Merkel Lesser Anita Merkel Coal City 16 grandchildren 39 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren.
Clyde Sandusky 54 former Mt. Vernon resident was killed in a Wednesday morning car accident near Iowa City. He will lie in state at William Stemm Funeral Home Elkhart Indiana. Survived by mother Ida Sandusky of Mt. Vernon wife Zre Sandusky son Michael Sandusky daughter Judy Butler brother Kenneth Sandusky and three half brothers Aston Moore Charles Moore and Melvin Moore.
Arthur W. Wilson age 50, a former McLeansboro resident, died early last night at Whitely Co. Hospital near Fort Wayne Indiana where he had resided. Funeral services set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro with Rev. Harold Wilson officiating. Burial in Oddfellows Cemetery. He was born August 12, 1918 in Illinois, son of Robert and Edith Wilson. Survived by one daughter Patricia Griess Pierceton Ind. three brothers Harold Wilson Indianapolis Sumner Wilson Dixon and Vernon Sigler Alton. two sisters Helen Allen Dahlgren and Edith Farmer Verdon and two grandchildren.
Pearl Edith Black, 78, of 1729 S. 30th Street, died this morning at 12 45 after ten days as a hospital patient. Born in Missouri on Sept 18 1890 she married Ira Black in 1948 at Mt Vernon who survives. Also survived by daughters Grace Griffin and Nora Cannon of Chaffee Missouri. Funeral arrangements announced later by Myers Funeral Service.
Kirsten White six years old, daughter of Carl and Joyce White of Muncie Indiana, drowned last week in Leesburg Florida. She is survived by three sisters, her grandparents John White and his wife in Gainesville Florida and Vechal Gilbert and wife in East Point Georgia, long-time Waltonville residents. Two great aunts Frieda Shurtz of Woodlawn and Melva Beckham of Bonnie also survive. Burial occurred in Gainesville.
Oscar Smith aged 62 died suddenly this morning at 8 30 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after suffering a weak heart and asthma. Born October 20 1906 in Mt Vernon, WWI veteran, he is survived by a sister Beulah Shelton and three half siblings in Florida Illinois and Mt Vernon. Funeral arrangements at Myers Funeral Service are incomplete and will be announced later.
The Times Square center will include an enclosed air conditioned mall linking stores in a modernized Romanesque complex. A nearby land parcel will host an estimated 250 to 300 housing units to be built by Denison Ready-Mix Inc. on land owned by Times Square Investment Corp with a pace of 40 to 50 units yearly. Robert Smith, president of Times Square Investment, said the investment firm is not otherwise involved in housing construction.

Nationalist Chinese Sea Guerrilla Force of the Anti-Communist National Salvation Corps sank two Red Chinese supply boats and one gunboat, damaged another, in a raid on a Communist naval base on the Min River in Fukien Province. The guerrillas returned safely. identities and vessel numbers were not disclosed. The event, the first sea clash in 3 1/2 years, was termed guerrilla activity by a Defense Ministry spokesman.
Jefferson County Fair Queen hopefuls rehearse at Mt. Vernon Fairgrounds this evening. Seven contestants are pictured for the Miss Jefferson County Fair Queen contest, to be presented July 16 at the Mt. Vernon State Fair stage. Pre contest events include a Green Hills Country Club swim party and a practice session this afternoon. The county winner advances to the Miss Illinois State Fair contest for 1969.
London AP reports Brian Jones 26 ex Rolling Stone died during a midnight swim at his Hartfield home. Asthma may have contributed, tour manager Tom Keylock said. Contractor Frank Thorogood and Anna Wohlin 20 were present. rescue attempts followed. Jones quit the group last month, seeking his own music. Stones had global sales and hits Jumping Jack Flash Beggars Banquet.
Mt Vernon Rainfall High and temperatures low in June. Precipitation reached 7.16 inches, well above the long term 3.97 inch average, amid storms including last weekend’s violent downpour. Temperatures ranged 42 to 94, with average 73.2 for the month, cooler than the 75.3 norm.

Powder Puff Derby pilots will ride Rep Kenneth J Gray's boat on the Potomac next Tuesday in Mt Vernon. Gray, a West Frankfort congressman, arranged the boat event for the participants of the cross country air race. The derby ends July 10 with a fly away breakfast at Dulles International Airport.

Chest Ann Marshall aged 20 of 1301 S 9th was arrested on a charge of attempted robbery and is jailed. The warrant states that at 1 30 a m on July 2 she struck Graydon Williams on duty at the Martin Oil Service Station 1225 S 10th Street and tried to take money from his shirt pocket. Bond set at 2000 dollars.
Two traffic incidents on Mt Vernon streets led to driver citations. At 2 30 p m a three car crash in the 100 block of South 10th damaged Bonnie Water’s auto, Howard Greene’s car, and Stephen Bullock’s van truck with Bullock cited for changing lanes without due caution. At 4 45 p m a collision on Broadway involved Samuel Storey and Frances Hayes with Hayes charged for leaving the club without due caution.
800 gallons of gasoline entered Joliet sewer lines after vandals found a pump at the Allen Bottling Co. causing explosions and shattered glass but no injuries. Firefighters reported no injuries and blamed the incident on trespassers at the soda water plant as fumes built up.
