A four year old Salem boy named Carl Ray Jenkins died Tuesday beside his mother during an ambulance trip to St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton. He suffered bulbar poliomyelitis and was stricken last Thursday. His physician reported the cause of death as the polio complication while oxygen was administered.

22 Patients at Cancer Diagnostic Clinic
The state aided cancer diagnostic clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital yesterday had 22 patients present themselves for examination. One patient was not accepted due to lack of proper referral from the family doctor. Eleven were follow up patients and eleven were new. Patients hailed from Centralia three from Dahlgren and Mt.
