Mt. Vernon Airport Authority secures a 324000 grant from the U S Department of Transportation for Outland Airport work. The funds will overlay, strengthen, mark the auxiliary runway and cover related costs. Chairman Stan Koziara says the project modernizes and renews the shorter runway running northwest to southeast.
Jefferson County Housing Agency chief Lou Ann Dorothy says rent and utility allowance increases are postponed for at least a month. The new plan would raise tenants’ rent to 25 percent of adjusted income, with utility allowances rising enough to offset lower incomes, causing an estimated $50,000 annual shortfall. The delay hinges on final fiscal year budget approval and funding from housing authorities.
