The Norwegian navy reports three more Russian trawlers seized for fishing inside the four mile territorial limit. Five vessels were previously taken at the west coast herring banks, with more still in operation. Authorities have not yet imposed fines and defer action pending higher guidance.
Thom as Irvin Fiss, 30, held in Madison County jail awaiting arraignment for the slaying of Bobby Carr last July. Fiss was arrested in Miami on unlawful flight charges and flown back in custody. Carr’s body was found in the trunk of his abandoned car near a coal mining parking lot at Livingston. Also charged and free on $25,000 bonds are Bobby Martin, 27, Louis Shoulders Jr., 25, and George Stormy Harvill.
A Navy guided missile crashed into an orange grove six miles south of Porterville California. It did not carry an explosive warhead. A crater about 20 feet wide and 12 feet deep formed. No injuries or building damage reported. The missile launched from the Mojave Desert where Navy and Air Force bases test.
Mr and Mrs Robert Dewey Tate of 608 North Street welcomed a son at 3 33 this morning weighing eight pounds eleven ounces named Robert Kevin. Mr and Mrs Wayne Armes of 815 South 18th Street welcomed a son at 6 08 weighing five pounds twelve ounces. Mr and Mrs Arvin Prince of 816 Fairfield Road welcomed a daughter at 7 34 weighing seven pounds nine ounces.

In Chattanooga Tennessee a concert dance riot erupted after a Negro dancer sat in the white section at Memorial Auditorium during Roy Hamilton's show. Police reported 3 whites and 3 Negroes injured lightly, nine Negroes arrested for disorderly conduct as bottles and chairs flew. Estimates placed attendees at 3,000 to 4,000 Negroes and over 1,000 whites. The clash began when the dancer sat in a white area and a fellow performer attempted to remove him, sparking the melee.
President Eisenhower and Britain’s Prime Minister Eden opened three days of talks focusing on the Soviet Union, Middle East balance of power, and Red China. They pledged deeds over words and eyed broader cooperation while Britain pressed easing embargoes and regional oil questions amid broader Anglo American debates.
Municipal bonds totaling more than 870000 were found Monday in a safe deposit box of the late Henry E. Ringling of Baraboo Wisconsin. Ringling died December 9 in Baraboo and the box at Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Co had been kept since before World War II. The bonds are non taxable according to an Illinois attorney general office spokesman. Ringling was a member of the famed circus family.

Autopsy indicated Mrs. Ostreicher died minutes after the abortion attempt, she was about six weeks pregnant. Earl M. Jim Denton, 17, Marion County, pleaded guilty to malicious mischief and got one year probation after involvement in farm home damage in Jefferson County. Hillery J. Troutt, 50, pleaded guilty to vagrancy and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Rodney J. Lipe, 17, pleaded guilty to vagrancy with unclear next steps. Finis F. Gream Jr., 23, East St. Louis, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, fined 150 dollars and costs, license revoked for one year. Thomas Metcalf pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated filed last May, fined 150 dollars and costs, license revoked. Damon Gibony, colored, fined 100 dollars and costs on DWI and 350 dollars and costs for transporting liquor with seal broken. license revoked. Thomas R. Johnson, 27, pleaded guilty to a drunk charge, fined 5 dollars and costs. Claude Marvin Anderson of Granite City failed to appear for trial on illegal driving with license revoked. Judge Andrews canceled his 150-dollar cash bond. charge pending.

Salem man Earl W Merritt will replace W Willard Wirtz as the Democratic minority member of the Illinois Liquor Central Commission effective Wednesday Gov Stratton announced the appointment Merritt previously served as assistant state treasurer for two years and headed the State Automobile Department for eight years He ran for treasurer on the Democratic ticket in 1944 Wirtz had been named to the commission in 1950 by Adlai Stevenson
Communists attacked three Singapore police stations with grenades, wounding 15 officers. Several injured were in serious condition at Singapore General Hospital. Police believed the assaults marked the anniversary of the Malayan liberation army, a Communist force.
Attorney Milton Ecker was chosen president of the Jefferson County Bar Association at a regular meeting held last night at the courthouse. He succeeds his law partner Demetri Hassakis as president.
