Mr. and Mrs. Don Bergstedt visited relatives in Mt. Vernon and Salem. Numerous locals including Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kirk in Hot Springs, and County Judge Frank H. Walker attended an Illinois Hospital Association meeting in St Louis. Others traveled for business, family visits, or vacations to cities like Miami, Chicago, and Evansville.

Snowbound Area in North Dakota

The Army has begun aerial reconnaissance to determine if a 50 by 150 mile North Dakota region is a disaster area. The critical zone runs from Devils Lake to the South Dakota border, with depths up to 38 inches and temperatures reaching 50 degrees below zero. Edgley is identified as the critical spot where fuel is scarce. The effort follows a conference between Col Norman D. Finley and Governor Fred Randal.

Three Cases in County Court Plea Values in Hamilton County

Three cases were heard before Osborne McMahon of Hamilton county. He pleaded not guilty to issuing a check to defraud and was brought by county officers. Charles H. Golden entered a not guilty plea to contributing to the dependency of minor children. C. D. Cates pleaded guilty to a fraud offense. Judge Walker took the case under advisement.

Bumpus Funeral Date Is Changed

Funeral arrangements for Dallas Floyd Bumpus age 74 of 600 Broad way are updated. The service is set for Friday at 2 00 p.m. at Hams Grove church with Revs Bird Green and Dave Goddard officiating, followed by burial in Hams Grove cemetery. Two Holdup Men Nabbed After Savings Bank Robbery

Two swarthy men robbed the First Federal Savings and Loan Association in South Bend and $5,017 was taken. Within an hour, two suspects matching the description were captured aboard a Chicago South Shore train at Michigan City after an elderly official fired five shots as they fled. Italian Lucca report says a 30 year old housewife Maria Bianchi gave birth to quintuplet girls Sunday. Two of seven month premature babies were stillborn and the other three died within hours after birth. The mother is reported to be doing well.
