Annual Meeting of Farm Co Op in Mt Vernon

Jefferson Service Company president Paul Hayse announced the cooperative would hold its ninth annual meeting on Saturday February 6 at 1 00 pm in the Mt Vernon high school auditorium. Mt Vernon high school music department opens a Monday night concert featuring the varsity band conducted by Charles Gregg and the a capella choir directed by W H Beckmeyer. Slick Corder Seeks Jefferson County Sheriff Nomination

Earl Slick Corder announced his candidacy for sheriff of Jefferson County subject to the Democratic primary on April 13. A lifelong county resident since 1911 with 18 years in the area, he is a former baseball catcher known from Shiloh Township, Mt. Vernon Merchants, and the Evansville 3-I League. He has long been active in Democratic circles, with past roles in the state Old Age Assistance office and as a livestock field investigator. he resides at 801 South 23rd Street.

Funeral for James Leo Devoy in St Marys Church

James Leo Devoy 53 died suddenly at home in Meadowbrook Addition after long illness from injuries in a 1947 automobile crash. Retired Prudential salesman after 24 years, survived by wife Genevieve Dale and three sons Thomas James and Robert, one grandchild and brother Robert M. Devoy.
