Two Minor Auto Collisions Reported in Mt Vernon

Two minor accidents occurred on Mt Vernon streets this weekend with no injuries. A truck driven by Gerald K Hood of McLeansboro and a car driven by John Edward Tieman of Mendota collided on 14th Street between Broadway and Main late Sunday night. Another collision involved Lester Shelton of RFD 7 Mt Vernon and J A Vannida of Bruford on Casey Avenue west of Tenth Saturday night.

New Eye Clinic Bus Schedule Changes

Beginning February 2 the Mt. Vernon Eye Clinic bus to Eldorado will run on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Beck's Charter Service operates it loading on the east side of the courthouse on Ninth Street and departing at 11:45 a.m. Pickups for Opdyke Belle Rive Dahlgren Delafield McLeansboro Dale and Broughton occur at the same daily time.

Naval Academy fires twenty stewards for moral perversion

Twenty stewards and mess attendants at the United States Naval Academy were dismissed for acts of moral perversion. Ten have already received undesirable discharges and the rest will follow after investigation by the Severn River Command. All twenty were Negroes serving in the Midshipmen's mess hall at Annapolis.

Third Victim of Wreck Is Dead

TERRE HAUTE Ind Jan 30 John Taylor 39 Marshall Tr died in Unicon Hospital this morning from a Thursday night traffic accident. Two other men were killed when Taylor's car overturned on US highway 40 just west of the Indiana Illinois state line. They were Harold Lee 28 Mason IlI and Willard Oglesby 25 McLeansboro III.

Marriage Revealed of Miss Sue Ann Hart and James Payne

The secret marriage occurred August 27, 1919 in Henderson Kentucky and was announced at a reception hosted by the bride and her parents at their home 1122 Oakland Avenue. Woman, 69, Dies in Four-Room Fire

A 69 year old widow, her two cats and one dog perished in a house fire that damaged a four room home in Sycamore Illinois. Neighbors heard a dog barking and called.
