A large group from Mt Vernon attended the Mt Vernon Centralia basketball game in Centralia last evening. Includes Ray Faulkner Herb Mason and many couples visiting relatives and friends and seen at the event. Notables from the area and student placements joined the gathering with several residents traveling from nearby towns to attend.

Washington January 29 Associated Press Commissioner W E Reynolds of the Public Building Administration said engineers found more defects than expected in the White House. He warned repairs could cost six million dollars rather than one million as originally estimated, noting it costs two to three times more to remodel a building than replace it. Clifford Fields, proprietor of a barber shop in Hotel Emmerson, yesterday received final patent rights for his cabinet used in The Field System of Scalp Treatments. After 15 years of work, Fields developed a vapor method covering the generating system. Patrons recline as their scalp is submerged in vapor during treatment.
Associated Press reports in Washington that manufacturing plants laid off 14 workers per 1,000 in November, double the year-ago rate of 7 per 1,000. Hiring fell to 39 per 1,000 from 45 per 1,000 in October, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
