Cletus Pigg of 720 Conger Avenue died at 10 last night at the Mt. Vernon state tuberculosis hospital. The tree surgeon was 44 years old. Funeral services Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel with the Rev. Ace Summers officiating, burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Body at Myers Chapel after 11 a.m. Tuesday for friends to view. Born August 23, 1911 in Mt. Vernon to Nathan and Martha Pigg. Survived by two daughters Patricia Jean Pigg of Fort Lauderdale. Cherryl Ann at home. three sons Jerry Ray in the U. S. Navy. Floyd Byron and William Nathan, both at home. two brothers Richard and Sebel, Mt. Vernon.

Nine year old Roger Payne dies at home in Woodlawn

Roger Allen Payne nine years seven months fourteen days old died at 11 15 Saturday morning at the family home on RFD 2 Woodlawn. Funeral services were held at Mt Catherine church at 2 00 p m with Rev Grant Hawkins officiating and burial in the church cemetery. He was born June 7 1946 in Jefferson county, the son of Claude and Lois Johnson Payne. Survived by parents and sisters Virginia Marilyn and Linda.

Wanda Madeline Terry 37 of 1324 South Ninth Street died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Services held at Myers Chapel at 2:30 pm with Rev. Ace Summers officiating, burial in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Born June 6 1918 in Mt Vernon to Calvin and Lula Levin, she married James L. Terry June 11 1936. Survived by husband, parents, and two sisters Lucille Dulaney and Imogene Hutchison of Mt Vernon.

Mrs. Margaret Cusumano Killed In St. Louis Crash

Mrs. Margaret Cusumano of St. Louis was killed Saturday in a collision between her car and a bus in St. Louis. She was daughter-in-law of Joe Cusumano of the Mt. Vernon Distributing Co. Funeral set for Tuesday at 9 30 a m at St. Joan of Arc church in St. Louis.

Former Resident Dies At Benton

Funeral services were held yesterday in Benton for the Rev. Albert Johnson who died Friday night at his home in Benton at the age of 78. A former resident of Mt. Vernon he was brother in law of Mrs Dan Dale of 1604 S 12th and is survived by his wife Vina and six children.

Faulkner Divorce Filed In Circuit Court

Hermonia Faulkner filed suit for divorce against William Ray Faulkner Sr in circuit court here charging adultery. She seeks a property settlement and alimony. The couple married July 20 1919 and remarried September 19 1943 after a prior divorce. They were separated. Attorney Alvin Lacy Williams represents the plaintiff.

Weekend Alarm Fire Damages Car With Welding Arc

Mt. Vernon firemen answered one weekend alarm at 1207 Shawnee. A car owned by Charles Zeigler was damaged by a welding arc, with a seat cushion slightly scorched. Firemen reported only minor damage and no injuries.

Hamilton County Soil Conservation Meeting in McLeansboro

The Hamilton County Soil Conservation District will hold its sixth annual meeting Friday January 27 at 7 00 p m in the Court House. An election will fill the directors seats held by Simon Peter Robert Payne and Paul Darnell. A change in state law lets both landowners and operators vote and hold office.
