Mrs. Robert Lewis and Orley returned from a two week stay at Mc Leary's Clinic in Excelsior Springs. Families from Ferguson, St Louis, Steeleville, Sparta and Mt Vernon visited local residents. Notables include Murray Whitsett of New York City arriving due to his mother's illness. Mrs. Merle Bullington improved enough to return to work. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rust's illness noted.

Reverend J H Thomason dies at 86 in Mill Shoals

The Rev J M Thomason a Baptist minister and 25 year resident of Mill Shoals died at 11 p m Saturday night at his daughter s home in Mill Shoals He is survived by three sons Norris Haverlin and Leland and three daughters Almeda Gammon Alta Jones and Jewell Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 11 a m at the Mill Shoals Baptist Church with burial at Olive Branch cemetery after viewing at Olive Branch Church South of Wayne City Louise Thomason his wife died in 1912.

Longstanding couple celebrated 58 years with family

Mr and Mrs H E Sandy of Camp Ground marked their 58th wedding anniversary with a Sunday dinner and visits from children and grandchildren. They wed January 21 1897 in Farrington township and have seven children 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Out of town guests included families from Keenes Marlow East St Louis St Louis and Centralia with several Mt Vernon attendees. Special guests were newborn twins Pamela Jo and Paula Joyce French of East St Louis. Westminster Society opens its year with guest speaker Ennis Kelley of the high school Spanish department and music by Thomas Cox and Ivan Cox with pianist Harnld Hrutchins. Nursery will be open.

Reveal Marriage Announce Wedding

The marriage of Miss Georgia Fae McCoy to Lawrence D. Thompson was revealed in this city. The double ring ceremony occurred Saturday, November 5, in Golder, Colo. Free Lunch for Visiting Farmers at Dairy Day

Visiting farmers in Jefferson County attending the Dairy Day on Friday January 27 will receive a free cafeteria lunch in the Odd Fellows Hall basement. Mt Vernon Firemen Answer Three Alarms Weekend

Mt Vernon firemen responded to three minor fires during the weekend. At 1:00 p.m. Saturday they were called to 1401 Lozan for a grease on an electric range that caused smoke damage. Earlier Saturday a rear rode rope lamp? was ignited by rubbish at 407 S. Ltd. causing slight damage. At 8:25 a.m. this morning they battled an oil furnace flare in the basement of Glassman Dept. State with slight damage.

Guthrie to Graduate at James Millikin University

Robert Guthrie senior Jor and Air will graduate Thursday at James Millikin University. The event marks the mid‑year ceremony with remarks by Tor. Gears 1D. The Mt Vernon high school music department prepares a February 7 benefit concert to raise funds for student musicians to attend contests. On February 9 the Mt Vernon band joins Salem and Centralia bands for a tri city concert in Centralia. Funeral for Paul Hanson at Ina near Ing

Funeral services were held yesterday for Paul Hanson 35 at Mothod Church in Ina with Rev Charles Porter officiating. Burial followed in Fitzgerald Cemetery east of Ina. Hanson died Saturday at his parents home east of Ina after a long illness from infantile paralysis. Survivors are his parents Mr and Mrs W H Hanson.

Circuit Clerk Harley Warren III Illness Report

Jefferson county circuit clerk Harley Warren III was stricken after breakfast today at the Blue Goose Café. He was taken to his sister Orpha Royal’s home at 432 8th Street where his condition improved and no heart attack was reported.
