Jay C. Williams, 78, former Mt. Vernon resident, died Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at his River Forest home of a heart attack. He once owned downtown Mt. Vernon real estate and belonged to First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday in River Forest. Survived by wife Mary Arendale of Mt. Vernon and a son, Jay Jr., a professor at the University of Chicago.

ALBUQUERQUE—Two Naval Air Reserve pilots were killed when their F9F Panther jets apparently locked wings and crashed near Kirtland Air Force Base during refueling. Lt. Cmdr. Charles R. Walton of Wheaton, 38, and Lt. Jerome H. Fisher of Urbana, 33, were part of a squadron en route to Miramar, Calif., for two weeks of training. Walton was a World War II veteran and Chrysler sales manager. his widow Lorrette and children survive.
