Mrs Esther Stevens of Belle Prairie visited Mr Vernon business today. Alma Blagi leaves for West Frankfort to visit her mother Mrs 3 C Randolph and will return Thursday afternoon. Mrs Albert M Rainey and infant Norman Edward moved home from Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Families return from New Orleans and other trips. Several doctors attend a Benton dental meeting. Mrs Ward Dodd visits Mt Vernon. Arthur McMillen and Venita Green improve in hospital. Woodlawn residents travel and visit relatives in Decatur and Galesburg. Clyde Malin and Ada Sneed improve at local hospitals. Logan Clark undergoes major surgery. Betty Yandell recently had an appendectomy.

Rufus C. French a well known Arlington township farmer died suddenly at 1 30 a m at his home near Wells Chapel north of Bluford He was 5 years 2 months and 12 days old Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a m at Wells Chapel church with Rev Jess Miller Wayne City and Rev James Clark Burnt Prairie officiating Burial will be in Wells Chapel cemetery The body will remain at Josborn Funeral Home in Dixon until 10 a m Thursday then moved to the family home for visitation until the funeral Mr French born November 7 1903 son of Albert C and Eliza J French Married Grace Meador September 13 1930 Surviving are his wife his mother two daughters Nellie Jane and Patsy Ann three brothers Dan E French Texico Charles R and Albert Curtis French Bluford and four sisters Mary J Myers Mt Vernon Annie B Pierce Bluford Hester M Knox Centralia and Katie L Simmons Texico.

They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutherland of Rolla, friends of the groom. Mr. Humphrey studies at the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla.

Brash 15 year old shoots at armed robber in Detroit

In Detroit on January 19 a 15 year old high school junior Eugene Newsom confronted a masked gunman who held up a drug store. He fired five rounds while the robber fired twice. the boy was unhurt and the thief sped away after the exchange.

In Miners' Hospital Christopher II, a two pound four ounce premature baby born to Mrs. Forrest Bennett of Thompsonville, remained under care as weather disrupted service for a mobile incubator. An incubator ambulance from East St. Louis arrived to transport the infant to St. John's Hospital in Springfield for specialized care.
