Lovenia Johnson Funeral at Inn Gathers Family Ties

Funeral services for Mrs. Lovenia Etta Johnson aged 89 were held at 2:00 p m at the Free Will Baptist church in Inn with the Rev. W R Burton of Whittington officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Benton. She died Monday evening in Garden City Michigan after a lingering illness. Born in Hardin County Kentucky in 1860 she married James J Johnson in 1879 who preceded her in death in 1939. Survivors include sons Raymond James Donald Oscar and Thomas Johnson of Pontiac Michigan Harry Johnson of Wayne Michigan and Mrs Bernice Head of Inn plus 20 grandchildren 40 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Meeting to Plan Free X Ray Service in Mt Vernon

A conference to organize Mt Vernon city and township for a mobile X Ray program will convene at 5 00 p m tomorrow at the De Witt Maxey Motor Co announced by Silas Echols executive secretary of the Jefferson County Tuberculosis Association. All interested in the program are invited to attend.

Effingham Plans Nearly Two Million Construction Buildout

Effingham Illinois outlines a $1.5 million hospital project to replace St Anthony’s destroyed by fire that killed 75. Donors contributed about $600,000 with remaining funds from federal and state aid. The plan also includes a $110,000 community park pool and a $100,000 outdoor drive in movie.

P T A Council Meeting At Mt Vernon Junior High

The Mt. Vernon P T A Council held a regular meeting at Casey Junior High School led by president Mrs William C Boyd. Plans were set for a city wide P T A meeting February 21 with Rev Andrew Caraker speaking on Educations Expanding Horizon. A nominating committee for next year was elected and health committee members appointed. Two delegates were chosen for the Illinois P T A State convention in Chicago in April. Barber Shop singers from many cities join Mt. Vernon chapter for the first annual Parade of Quartets on February 19 at Mt. Vernon high school auditorium. Master of ceremonies will be Jerry D. Quartets include One More Four and Mixed-Up Four of St. Louis, Dixieliners and McPhee Family of Evansville, Elks Quartet of Vincennes, Barber-Q-Four of LaGrange, The Four Sharps of Alton, and The Egyptian Keys of Mt. Vernon. S. P. E. B. S. S. A. has 500 chapters and 40,000 members in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Carl Little is president and James Hampton secretary.

Summersville 4-H clubs Funmakers and Eagles gathered January 14 at Summersville School basement for a crazy hat party. Lawrence Heskett won for craziest hat while Judy Rogers of Mt.
