Frank McBrian 83 formerly of Clinton, Indiana, died in Evansville. He was a former resident of Print Vernon. funeral service held Wednesday in Twinns.

Olson, jailed on 825000 bond, claims a torrid romance with Holderman, who says Olson was only a casual social companion. The shooting wounded Kussler, who remains in critical condition. Olson awaits arraignment as Holderman’s political ties and public health role are noted.
Maxine Hill filed suit for divorce against Dennis Hill in circuit court here. The complaint cites desertion as the grounds. The couple married August 15, 1932 and separated August 15, 1945. Attorney Jay B. Stringer represents the plaintiff.
Mt. Vernon rural firemen made six runs over the weekend to fight grass fires. On Saturday they battled blazes at Jim McDermott's home on Benton Road Alonzo Dawson's residence at 224 Grant the city dumping ground on U S Route 460 and on the Waltonville Road. Sunday they controlled fires at Carroll Hilloway's home on Fairfield Road and at Donald Rainey's on RFD 7.
Illinois Secretary of State Carpentier announces motorists must display 1956 auto mobile license plates by February 15. The license applications must be filed by February 1.
A Saturday night blaze at 1124 North Street heavily damaged a home owned by John Mack. Firemen traced the fire to a upstairs room rented by Cecil Smallwood. Smallwood, nearby, was arrested for a drunk charge and fined. Mt Vernon fire crews handled three other alarms over the weekend, including a 1951 Mt Vernon Distributing Co truck fire and smaller fires at Polk and Forrest and 12th and Broadway.
Frank G' Carpenter, 55, of Belle Rive pleaded guilty in county court to driving while intoxicated. Judge Dale Andrews assessed a $100 fine and costs. Wayne T. Atwood of Marion pleaded innocent to driving while intoxicated and demanded a jury trial. No trial date set.
