A man named Torres was spotted by a Washington officer with a rifle near the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. He slipped cartridges into the gun and fired after a scuffle, then was seized by three policemen. Mississippi Klan Linked To Killings

House investigators tied the Ku Klux Klan to murders of two Mississippi Negroes and brutal beatings among Klansmen. Natchez area figures including policemen and the mayor’s sons were named as Klansmen, with police reports and FBI records cited.
