TVA Options Coal Lands Near Benton
TVA has taken a six month option on 5000 acres of deep mine coal lands near Benton Illinois ten miles southeast of Benton in Franklin County. Exploratory drilling will be funded through January 27 at TVA Chattanooga offices with a core drill program to assess reserves. The land is part of a Franklin County estate handled by a Chicago law firm and ownership was not disclosed.

Decide Today On Nationwide Truck Contract
Chicago report says representatives of over-the-road trucking interests will meet today to decide on signing a nationwide contract with the Teamsters Union. Hoffa set a midnight deadline for settlement after talks with the industry policy committee. A spokesman warned of selective strikes in the Chicago area if no deal is reached. Contracts in Chicago expired in December. general over-the-road contracts expire in February.
