Mt Vernon grade school students and the junior high raised 820.77 for the 1952 March of Dimes. Participating schools include Junior High Horace Mann Field Edison Lincoln Washington Franklin and many named donors from classes and individual students. Rescue Trains Plow Through Deep Snow Near Twin Bridges
Two rescue trains bucked heavy snow on U S Highway 50 near Twin Bridges killing two women in a slope slide. Five cabins and a country store were crushed, a rancher missing, and a preacher died after walking a steep grade. About 120 motorists stranded on Highway 395 near Reno found shelter at Stead Air Force Base as a Greyhound bus evacuated 42 passengers. Two young Mt Vernon girls, ages 12 and 11, were accosted yesterday afternoon by a man who tried to show obscene pictures. Incidents occurred at 12th and Cherry and on north Ninth street. parents reported the man ran west on Cherry after seeing two women. Police believe the two events involve the same man.

Injured Man Returns To Hospital For Treatment
Harold Power severely burned in an oil field accident in Wayne County on December 28 reentered Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. He suffered severe facial and neck burns and was improving until complications arose this week. Power, partner in P. and M. Welding and Machine Shop, has been unable to work since the incident.

Youth Blows Up Alabama Home Details Eighteen-Year-Old Arrested
An 18-year-old high school student, William Ervin Jr., was arrested and charged with dynamiting the home of a convict's wife in Dothan Alabama. The blast endangered Bedel Grant and her five sleeping children. He allegedly aimed to frighten the family to affect testimony in a carnal knowledge case against Kenneth Nowell. Under Alabama law, dynamiting carries a possible death sentence. The Grants’ husband is serving three years for grand larceny.
