Peter Cooper Shelton, 79, retired coal miner of Bonnie RFD 1, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital Mt. Vernon after a hip fracture. Born March 11, 1876 in Jefferson County, he is survived by wife Maggie Dare, daughter Ferne Douglas, one grandchild, two great grandchildren, and brother Jim Shelton. Funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at South Hickory Hill Church, burial in church cemetery. body lies in state at Fry Funeral Home Waldentonville after 10 a.m. Saturday.

She was born July 23 1884 in Webber township and married Hosea S Page September 19 1900 who survives. Also surviving are one daughter Dorothy Foster two sons Edward C Page and Lawrence Page two brothers Rosier Russell and Elmer Russell six grandchildren four great grandchildren with one son Clarence predeceased in 1937.

Four Accidents Here One Hurt Three Arrested
Four accidents occurred in Mt. Vernon yesterday and today with one person injured. Carl Starr, 44, of Main Street, was slightly hurt when his 1936 car struck a parked car and then hit Ben Arnold’s home at Perkins. Starr faced a traffic violation arrest. Ross Ogg of Salem was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a minor collision on Main Street. Columbus Eggleston of South 13th Street was fined for running a stop light after colliding with a taxi driven by John DeSelms at Tenth and Main. Marie Sheffield and Harold Brown collided on South Ninth Street later in the day.
