An 18 day old baby boy kidnapped from Mankato was found unharmed in New Ulm after 17 hours. The infant was returned to his mother Mrs Eugene Callahan. Police say Mrs Leonard Scheid admitted taking the baby to replace a lost child. The baby was located in Scheid’s apartment over a downtown tavern.

Tokyo report states 1800 American unknown soldiers were recovered from Korean battlefields and interred in mausoleums on Kyushu. Identification comes from birthmarks, tattoos, fingerprints, dental work, or old fractures, while many remain listed as missing by the defense department. Maj Beauchamp noted no reliable percentage can be set for unknowns on the missing in action list.
