Mrs. Cynthia Bogan formerly of Woodlawn died Thursday in Sturgis South Dakota at age 99 years two months nine days. She will be brought to Myers Chapel with funeral arrangements incomplete. Born October 30 1864 near Woodlawn she is survived by husband George H. Grover Tyler of Keenes Dies

Grover Tyler, 77, died at 10:00 am at his home near Keenes. Richardson Chapel in Wayne City will conduct funeral services. He was born November 8, 1886, in Wayne County, son of George and Sarah Jane Tyler. On October 9, 1916, he married Cecile Haynes, who survives. He also leaves four brothers Sam Tyler of Mt. Vernon, Mike Tyler of Rochelle, Harve and Lawrence Tyler of Keenes, and a sister Carrie Montgomery of Johnsonville.

Rebecca Harper Smith, four day old daughter of Mr and Mrs Terry Smith, died Thursday in a hospital at Corning New York. The mother is the former Nina Ruth Harper of Mt Vernon. Local live stock market closes higher on hogs and sows

Prices paid on the local live stock market rose 25 cents. The top was 14.75 for 190 to 220 pound hogs. Sows weighed 300 pounds or more sold at 11.75 to 12.00, down. Boars brought 7.00 and 8.00.

Air Crash Kills 31 In Argentina

A passenger plane crashed 56 miles northwest of Buenos Aires killing 31 aboard. Police recovered at least 28 bodies and three were seriously injured. Four U.S. citizens among the dead were identified as Mrs. Jack Burton Ryan, Mrs. Thelma Ryan, Mary Bruce, and Thomas Jewell. Officials listed the flight as en route from Santa Fe to Buenos Aires.

In the Canal Zone a heavy gunfight left 15 dead and about 300 wounded. The U.S. Army reported battles near the Tivoli guest house with six soldiers wounded after returning sniper fire. Panamanian mobs looted, set fires, and the area was placed under military control by Gen. O'Meara.

Housing project asks for piano and gets two

Frank Neal, director of the Mt. Vernon Housing project, appealed for a piano for a community room used by an elderly residents senior citizens club. Arrest Two On Forgery Charge In Mt Vernon

Two Mt Vernon men James Ray Lock wood age 22 of 1011% south Tenth and Robert Stanley Richardson age 19 of 309 south Ninth are jailed on forgery charges. Lacy Williams set bond at $2500. Police say they forged and cashed a $550 check at First National Bank using a forged account holder name.
