Joe Norris Sesser 69, of Sesser, died Monday night at Miners Hospital in Christopher. He was a retired C B and Q Railroad agent and billing clerk born February 7, 1903 in Waltonville, son of Wayman and Anna Norris. Survived by wife Dorothy Harris, two sons Wayman and Robert, a brother Royal Norris of Mesa Arizona. Funeral held Thursday at Brayfield Funeral Home Lesser with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. Burial in Knob Prairie cemetery Waltonville.

A 33 year old DuQuoin man, William Wayne Knapp, was arrested at the intersection of 11th and Jordan Streets by Police Chief Fred Dedman around noon Tuesday for stealing a car owned by Jim Powell Route 3 from the Bank of Chinois parking lot. He remained jailed under $1,000 bond on a criminal trespass to a motor vehicle charge.
