Eckstine Says He Was Robbed

New York AP: Singer Billy Eckstine failed to start a $5,500 weekly engagement at the Americana Hotel after saying he was assaulted and robbed of $600 and knocked out with a Mickey Finn. Eckstine was later found at his Harlem apartment and, according to his attorney, was approached by three men in Harlem who demanded his autograph before a karate blow and the knockout drink.

Gas Fumes Kill Four Boys in Payson Jail

Four Payson high school youths aged 16 to 18 were found dead in the city jail after spending the night for stealing beer.
