Married Fifty Years in Jefferson County Celebration
The Hamlin couple marked fifty years of marriage near Waltonville on December 24, 1803. Parents of nine with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, they were joined by relatives including Joe Hamlin, Mrs W. Britton, Mrs Joe Hasara, Mrs Harold Bischof, Ernest and Leroy Hamlin, and others from Mt. Vernon Virden Cairo Waltonville and Centralia. The groom, Mr. Hamlin, retired from the railroad in 1944 after thirty years of service and now works at the Illinois State Armory in Mt. Vernon. He is 70 and his wife 68 in fair health. Additional attendees included insine Crow and son, Mrs Emma Wervzer, and Glen Bishop.

Small Boy Hero Of Fire Saves 3 From Christmas Blaze
Dennis Trojan, year-old, rescued his two younger brothers and baby sister from a Christmas tree fire in the Trojan apartment at 2707 N Ridgeway Ave Chicago. He carried the baby and led the two brothers to safety as flames burned his face and singed his hair. The neighbor helped. The mother was in the basement and the father at work. The brothers Peter Jr five and Richard four were unhurt. Karen 1 months old suffered minor burns on hands and face.
