Death of Leo Harden in South Bend Indiana
Leo J Harden 68 of South Bend Indiana died December 21 after a month long illness at Memorial Hospital. A former Jewel Companies official he retired in 1963 as Mt Vernon office manager after 37 years service. Funeral services were December 24 at Welsheimer Funeral Home with burial at St Joseph Memorial Park. He was born August 1906 in South Bend and belonged to Lounsbury Lodge Scottish Rite Valley Ainad Temple Mt Vernon Shrine Club. Survived by wife Jeanette two brothers and three sisters.

Springfield AP Clyde Choate a Democrat from Anna and a leading House speaker candidate denies any conflict of interest in a bill allowing brokers with lapsed licenses to reinstate without exam by paying 25 dollars a year plus a penalty. The veteran Southern Illinois legislator says he held a broker license over 20 years until five to six years ago and has been inactive in real estate for 15 to 17 years. He says he did not need a license for personal property and does not recall voting on the bill amendment, asserting no selfish motive.
