Louis Pavey a former Mt Vernon baker and merchant died yesterday in Santa Barbara aged in his eighties. Funeral services will be held Sunday in Santa Barbara with a second service later in Mt Vernon where burial will be in the Pavey family plot. Survived by two sisters Mabel Pavey and Alice Emerson of Mt Vernon. He was son of Gen Charles W and Isabella Pace Pavey. His wife Louise died last year. Two brothers Eugene M and Nell are dead.

Edward Arnold Harrell of 719 Main Street died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 66 years, six months and 28 days old and a retired clerk. Funeral is Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. He was born May 28, 1890 in Hannibal, Missouri. He married Pearl Shaffer on May 28, 1944. she survives along with one brother, a stepdaughter, and two grandchildren.

Explosion at Aluminum Plant in Newnan Kills Two
An explosion in the William L. Bonnell Co aluminum plant smelting department in Newnan killed two workers, injured at least four, with one person in critical condition. The blast at 3 58 am destroyed part of the plant, shattered windows in nearby homes, and knocked out power for 35 minutes. The victims, both Black men aged 29 and from Newnan, were identified as James Johnson Crook and George Luttrell. Company president Bonnell estimated damages at 250000 insured, suggesting the blast may have been caused by dumping wet scrap aluminum into molten pots after recent rains.

Car Overturns Injuring Ruth Fanning of Nason
Mrs. Ruth Fanning, 46, of Nason, was injured at 11 45 am Wednesday when her new automobile overturned on a blacktop road a mile south of Dareville. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and remained there. Deputy Sheriff Richardson said the brakes locked during a stop to avoid a truck turning into a driveway, throwing the car into a ditch and demolishing it.
