Ambulance and Truck Collide Near Mt Vernon

At 5 30 p m an ambulance and a 1949 half ton truck collided four miles southeast of Mt Vernon on Highway 460. One person William Raley 35 Eldorado suffered a cut lip. The 1948 ambulance driven by Ike Williford and the 1949 truck driven by David Jackson of 724 South 23rd were headed east. Jackson says the ambulance skidded and struck the rear of his truck.

Arthur Troutt, 44, a well known Woodlawn resident, suffered a heart attack at his home last night. He was taken to Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, where attendants said his condition is improved today.

Mrs. Margaret Ellen Harlow will quietly observe her 93rd birthday Saturday at her home 409 Harrison street. Her birthday will be celebrated at a family dinner on Sunday. Lt Bill Summers Goes Overseas

First Lt. Bill R. Summers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Summers of 708 South 24th Street, left San Francisco by ship for overseas duty. A 25 year old graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and Indiana University, Summers is a World War II veteran and is expected to reach Japan shortly before Christmas.
