Evan Quillman of Valier died Saturday after a long illness at Miners Hospital in Christopher. Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brayfield Funeral Home in Lesser with Rev. Howard Walters officiating and burial in Maple Hill cemetery. The body lies in state after 3:30 p.m. today at Brayfield. Born January 6, 1902 in Franklin County, he was the son of William and Emma Turner Quillman. He married Helen Veach, who survives, and he was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Walier. Survivors include two sons, Jack and Harry Quillman, in addition to his wife.

Ten-year-old hit by car on Richview Road near home
A ten year old boy was injured at about 8 45 this morning when he stepped in the path of an automobile in front of the Methodist Children's Home on Richview Road. Sunday Morning Auto Crash Injures Vernon Man
A Vernon resident, Harry E. Owens aged 41, was seriously injured in an early Sunday auto crash in the 800 block of Harrison and is in fair condition at Good Samaritan Hospital. Police say Owens’ car struck a wall by the Farm Bureau building after hitting another vehicle. The other car, owned by Betty L. Smith, sustained over 100 dollars in damage. The incident occurred around 1 20 a.m. Police logged eight additional weekend crashes with two involving minor injuries, including three cars in a Broadway at 6th Street collision and a two car wreck at 10th and Conger. Several other noninjury crashes were reported, with charges for failure to yield in several cases.
