At yesterday's monthly cancer diagnostic clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital, 21 patients were seen, including nine new patients and 12 follow-ups. Three physicians attended. Estella May Bruce 80 died at 5:00 am at her daughter Myrtle Hartman’s home six miles north of Blu ford. Funeral Friday at 1:00 pm at Osborn Funeral Home Dix with burial in Elmwood cemetery Centralia. Car Turns Over near Mt. Vernon injures driver
Jimmy Willis of 2406 Casey Avenue escaped injury when his car left state highway 15, went down an embankment and turned over on its side near the first curve east of Mt. Vernon. Deputy Dalby said the car rolled two or three times and landed upright. Willis said he dozed off at the wheel.

Trucker Pleads Guilty In Overload Case
Oliver Pruitt a 25 year old Vandalia Illinois trucker pleaded guilty to driving a 9600 pound overload on Indiana roads. He faced a two and a half year term unless he pays 972.50 in fines plus 12.50 in costs. He was jailed after saying he could not pay. At one dollar per day of jail the total duration would be 972 days to work off the fine.

Woman Slain in Tourist Cabin
MATTOON, Ill. Dec. 6 A woman about 38 identified as Dorothy Lindsay Drake of Paris, Tex, was found dead with her throat cut in a Mattoon tourist cabin. A man with stab wounds, Oliver Bolin, 41, of Toledo, IL, lay beside her. he was treated and guarded at Memorial Hospital. A knife found in the cabin is believed to be the weapon.
