Camp Staunton woman Helen Marie Camp dies at 62

Helen Marie Camp Staunton, 62, formerly of Bonnie, died at 11 a.m. Thursday at Staunton Memorial Hospital. Born April 13, 1914, in Madison County to William and Chieine Neier Albrecht, she was married to Roy Camp who died in 1974. Services were held Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Survived by son Francis Skip Camp of Opdyke, daughters Judy Blum of Alhambra California and Betty Garde of Staunton, four grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and brother.

Vandals Fire At Howard's Conoco Station

Vandals fired at least 22 shots through a front window of Howard's Conoco Service Station on Route 37 a mile north of Bonnie during the night. County sheriff's office reports the shots came from a .22 caliber weapon. Twenty two holes were found in the window and nine struck a wall inside.

Ackley Sues for 40000 Involving Petro Drilling

Arthur W. Ackley filed a 40000 accident damages suit in circuit court Thursday against Stanley Kiselewski and Petro Drilling Company. He alleges a January 9 collision at 400 block of South 12th Street occurred when the truck pulled into his car’s path during a left turn into a private drive. Ackley says he sustained permanent injuries and will face past and future economic losses plus medical costs.

Three More CB Radios Missing

Three more citizen's band radios were reported stolen this morning. Carrol Firebaugh told city police that someone got into his car between midnight and 2 a.m. at the General Radiator plant and removed a Pace CB unit. John Scott of Crawfords ville, Ind., found that his $180 Midland CB radio was missing from his car in the Ramada Inn parking lot this morning, police said. Gary Ratliff, at Castleton Ave., reported that his Royce CB was stolen from his car last night or early today while the car was parked at his home.

Arrestee Held in Burglary Case here

Harold Ellis aged 46 of 50 South 15th Street was arrested Thursday evening and jailed on burglary charges. He remains in custody under a five thousand dollar bond for allegedly breaking into Julie Mae Millers home at 706 South 17th Street on July 31.

Unusual protest Vietnam veteran holds 13 hostages in tower

A Vietnam veteran, Ashley Leach, 30, of Huntington West Virginia, held as many as 13 hostages for nine hours inside Cleveland's Terminal Tower to press Chessie System Inc. to change its veterans practices. Four hostages escaped, while others were unharmed. FBI and local authorities plan formal kidnapping and extortion charges. A Chessie VP negotiated, drafting promises for a veterans review.

$801,000 Grant For Carbondale Airport
