Master Sergeant Douglas Gessner dies at 42 in Illinois
Master Sergeant Douglas E. Gessner retired of rural route Woodlawn Illinois died Friday morning at Scott Air Force Base medical unit. He served 20 years in the U S Air Force and received the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Award and the Armed Forces Honor Medal. Funeral services set for 8 p m Monday at Hogan Funeral Home Ashley with Rev Paul Pasternak officiating graveside services at 2 p m Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. He was born August 1 1942 in St Peter Minnesota to Irvin and Camill Holtz Gessner. He was previously married to Sandra Whittaker and was a Lutheran. Survived by his mother Mrs Comilly Cressner of St Peter Minn a daughter Barbara Gessner of Woodlawn three brothers Hubert of Mankato Minnesota William of Janesville Minnesota and Sherman of Phoenix Arizona and a sister Delores Moats of Phoenix Arizona.
