Funeral services for Erman Brownie Strattan of Oaklawn are set for 2 30 p m Wednesday at the Spring Garden church with the Rev L F Harpole officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Strattan died of a heart attack at 10 30 p m Saturday in Oaklawn He was 49 Born September 28 1906 in Calvert City Ky he was the son of Lee and Ludie Malin Strattan His survivors include his wife Frances and three sons two daughters his mother and several siblings and five grandchildren.

Driver Of Car In Dix Accident Fined Here
Walter E. Cathout 53 of Sullivan NL was fined 5 dollars and costs for improper lane usage after a Sunday crash south of Dix that injured five. State Patrolman E W Simmons of Benton filed the charge. Cathout’s car collided with a Centralia driven vehicle carrying Billy Foster 19 and Philip Gardner 19 of Mt Vernon, who was hospitalized.

Frenchmen Cross Atlantic On Log Raft For Food And Survival
Beaudot and two companions described their perilous Atlantic crossing aboard a log raft aided by the Gulf Stream. They survived monthlong food shortages, lived on fish and rain water, endured 35 foot waves, and were aided by an American troopship on July 5.
