Linda Jean Fenoli 26 of Route 4 Mt. Vernon died Sunday at Belleville Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Marys Catholic Church Mt. Vernon with Fathers Neff and Longust officiating. Burial in St. Marys Cemetery. Visitation after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home Dix. She was born December 23, 1949 at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Survived by six brothers and two grandmothers. parents Col. John Robert Fenoli USAF retired and Jeanette Elizabeth Fenoli. She was a registered nurse and worked at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
Thomas F. Russell 84 of Route 3 McLeansboro died Monday at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. A retired construction worker, he was born April 5 1892 in Hamilton County, son of James and Arminta S Hefner Russell. Survived by two sons, a daughter, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday 2 p.m. at Gholson Chapel with Masonic and Legion honors. Burial in Smith Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today. Masonic services 7 30 p.m. today.

Emma Crank, 75, of Du Quoin, died 6:20 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital Mt Vernon. She was a housewife, lived with sister Jane Olver in Springerton, and had resided in Du Quoin 10 years. Born March 5, 1901 in Hamilton County to Whittington and Martha Hayes, she was married to Calvin Crank who preceded her in death. Survived by son James Morgan Granite City, brother Jewel Hayes Matteson, and sister Jane Oliver Springerton. Burial at IOOF Cemetery follows funeral at Gholson Funeral Chapel McLeansboro. Chapel after 6 p.m. today.
Superintendent Lew Hilliard said temporary Old Union boundaries place east of Salem Road students at Franklin, west of Salem Road and east of a 27th Street line at Lincoln, and west of that line at Buford, with seventh and eighth graders going to Casey Junior High. Enrollment gains are small and racial balance remains stable.

Police reported about 300 demonstrators, lacking the mass disruption feared, with half local in origin. Leaders and participants spoke on government spying and marijuana while a coalition formed under the Kansas City Convention Coalition.
Mt Vernon faces rising water main breaks under streets and homes. Current rates include Participating and Non Participating levels with Youth Junior and Adult tiers and a Century option.
