Fire Damages Bedroom In Harmony Home
Byron Vance of the Bluford Fire Protection District spotted flames on Harmony Road Saturday after 7 p.m. He helped contain the blaze with a garden hose until the pumper arrived, keeping fire damage confined to the bedroom area though the home suffered heat and smoke damage. Investigators suspected lightning as a possible cause.

Weekend collisions leave multiple hurt in Mt Vernon area
An 8 year old Mt Vernon youth faced reckless driving and fleeing charges after a Sunday morning chase reaching 80 mph down South Tenth Street ended in a crash. Larry M Tittle of 408 S 4th St drove into a center island at 10th and Fishers Lane after a pursuit begun near Jordan Avenue. Leo K Leneave of Route 1 Bonnie was charged after a sequence of crashes on Broadway, including injuries to passenger Larry R Coultas and damage to several cars. Brenda Davis, 18, and others involved received treatment, with Davis charged for driving without a license. Another rider Donald R Martin escaped serious injury after a motorcycle struck a car on 24th and Broadway. JoLene Dunn and Altheia DeLoch were treated and charged respectively for an accident near the Lawrence Restaurant and for failure to yield. James E Crowell sustained a pole crash on South 10th Street and was charged with reckless driving.
