Funeral services for Maude Whitlock 89 of Route 6 will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home Dix with Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial in Union Chapel cemetery. She died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born Texico Jan 5 1887 she was married May 1903 to Harley Whitlock who died 1950. Survived by son Wilbur Whitlock Belle Glade Fla daughter Ile Mae Hughes Mt Vernon 11 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband two sons Ray and Harvey and daughter Aurel Whitlock four brothers and three sisters.

Washington negotiators in the 113 day rubber strike prepare to reply to a government proposal aimed at ending the work stoppage. City crews in Mt V clean up storm debris from a violent thunderstorm ten days ago in King City. Five city trucks collected debris at curbside with 38 truckloads taken to the landfill yesterday as the first day of cleanup. City Manager Ray Botch expects completion by week’s end. Housing tenants form nine member temporary committee

A temporary tenants committee of nine residents will be created to work with two housing authority members for three months. Mrs Dorothy will appoint the nine tenants, with two commissioners designated by Ed Williams. The agency also amended its rental plan to include an omitted paragraph about 21.8 percent income exemptions for rent calculations. A second social contact worker position will be funded by CETA to assist Rev. John Loving, whose duties limit time for social work. The meeting was adjourned to Sept 13 at 5 p.m. The agency has moved its regular meeting to the second Monday each month.

Manions sue Puckett over August 1974 motorcycle crash

John J. Manion Jr. filed suit in Jefferson County Circuit Court on behalf of son Joseph against Leo V. Puckett alleging negligence in an August 8 1974 crash in the 500 block North 8th Street. Manion suffered serious injuries including the loss of his left leg and has paid 42389 for medical care with more expected. The case seeks a fair settlement and a jury trial. Possible showers Thursday partly cloudy Friday and Saturday with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.
