Vernon resident Mrs. Virginia Harper, died Sunday after being struck by a Gulf Mobile & Ohio freight train at a Murphysboro crossing about 2:10 p.m. Witnesses said she walked in front of the train. Burial will be in Pinckneyville City Cemetery. Survivors include a niece Mrs. R. M. White and two nephews Lyle Brown and Lt. Col. J. W. Brown. Edward Fallon, her husband, died in 1961.
